RE: Camping in Driveway During Home Remodel

I wouldn't be able to do that, as my house & garage are only 5 ft. from the property line on both sides. All RV's must be parked behind the building line. The street would be a definite no-no. This is not an HOA, it's the whole dang town. It would be really nice to be able to stay in your RV at home when needed, or at least store it in my driveway instead of at a storage lot.

RE: BEWARE !! CAMPING WORLD ADS

Somehow, I doubt the $100 gift card for making a nice comment. That being said, my first ever experience with CW was just last week at the Springfield (Strafford), MO, store. I didn't have any work done, but the retail area and employees were excellent. I even commented to the sales clerk that the people "down here" are sure a lot nicer than the people around St. Louis (which is the area I live in). BTW-everywhere I've had any repairs done (RV or otherwise), in recent years, I've been charged shop fees. If they had to ship something from out of town, they had to pay the shipping. Why not pass it on to the consumer. they are in business to make money afterall.

RE: ERS

I think GS & CW are run by the same company, too, but couldn't say for sure. I have GS ERS and have needed them a few times. I have always had great service.

RE: Campsite Mosquito Control Suggestions

I have had good luck with skin-so-soft, on skeeters, but can personally attest that it does nothing for ticks.

RE: Who here takes Neurontin?

I take neurontin, too (600mg, 3 times per day). It has helped a lot with my neuropathy, but does indeed make me tired. I am in pain 24/7, sometimes worse than others. the itching and burning are just the beginning symptoms. Mine hurts to the bone, after many years of having it. I hope stopping the Zetia helps the problem, but then his cholestrol will most likely go up. I cannot take cholestrol lowering drugs because of already having high liver enzymes. Good luck to you!!

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

Someone was asking how to find this posting and I checked and it is not on any of the 16 pages, so I am going to bump it, hope it makes it back. This is the best information on the boards for new people. The easiest way,is to subscribe to it> Even when I subscribe to it, if you don't log on often enough, it stops sending me updates. Arggggg. Sounds like you better log on more often. hehehehe:h Subscribe with e-mail notifications. That'll remind you to log on more often.... Doesn't work. After about a week, email notifications stop.... I'll just have to take John and Betty's advice! The e-mail notifications have worked for me for months. Wonder why they stopped for you.....

RE: Where is everyone off to this Memorial Day Weekend?

We are staying home and doing some work on the MH. I don't usually camp on holiday weekends :(

RE: Cell phone use restrictions

I personally can't believe the number of people that drive while holding their phone up to their ear. They are usually too busy holding their phone to do things like signal lane changes........

RE: Built in propane tank

You can have it inspected by a larger propane dealer. I bought a 1977 Diamond, last fall, and have yet to get mine inspected. We just didn't use the LP on our maiden voyage, before storing for the winter. You could even have to get the tank replaced on something that old.

RE: Gas Pumps That Cut You Off At $75

I use Shell branded MasterCard and it goes above $75 at Shell stations. Also gives 5% back on Shell gas purchases. Ditto for me on the Shell MC. But, I don't understand the problem with having to swipe more than once. It's not fun to check the oil, either, but it's just something you have to do if you want to travel. Little inconveniences, in life, just don't seem to bother me as much as they do some people.....

RE: Cabin Fever

According to the weather guessers, here, March, April, and May are going to be warmer than usual. Spring is closer than you think :)

RE: AAA Emergency Road Service

I don't have any experience with an RV, but with AAA I have been towed 96 miles for free to my father's house. My actual contract, with AAA, stated they would only tow me 5 miles (or something similar)for free. I would have had to pay the towing company for any additional miles. That's one of the reasons I left.

RE: AAA Emergency Road Service

I didn't have very good service from AAA, either. I have since switched to Good Sam ERS, and have had to use them twice. GS has excellent service, excellent customer service, and will actually tow you to the nearest certified repair shop, as opposed to a limited number of miles, like AAA.

Too cold here, now, to do anything to mine. Just dreaming of spring...........

RE: Presents

The only camping related gift, I got, was a rechargeable spotlight, so I can see better around the campsite (nightblind). All the rest of my gifts were ham radio related.

RE: Amputees RVing?

Rick, I've had the multiple blood pressure cuff tests on my legs, too. So far, so good, for me. I have severe diabetic neuropathy, but the blood pressure in my legs is still good. I have many of the concerns that you do, but I'm not as far along, I guess. Hang in there. Sounds like you've gotten a lot of good information, and best of all, good news. Hope the future tests are all good.

MO State Parks offer a discount. Just require you to display a handicap placard in your windshield.

RE: New to RVing

I don't have anything to add that would be helpful, but I wanted to mention that reading your post brought back a lot of fond memories. I used to race a Quarter Midget, when I was a kid. We were a lot less prepared than it appears you are going to be, but it was loads of fun.
